The Anagama
Originating from a Japanese word meaning cave kiln or hole kiln, the term anagama refers to a single-chamber kiln with no separation between the burning wood in the firebox and the ceramic ware. Anagama kilns date back as far as 3000 B.C., maybe even farther! Around 500 B.C. Japan was introduced to this technique and further expanded on the idea. Today, the anagama is being rediscovered worldwide and I am blessed to be a part of it!
